Kelber Cottage

Kelber Cottage is located in the tranquil village of Steinhatchee, Florida in the Big Bend region. We are conveniently located in the center of town just minutes to the Steinhatchee River and the Gulf of Mexico.
Visitors to Steinhatchee enjoy the feeling of a Florida from days gone by, including a slow pace, abundance of nature and beautiful, pristine scenery not overcrowded by development and industry.
Steinhatchee literally means "Deadman's River" and the bay at the mouth of the river is called "Deadman's Bay". The area is well known for the local scalloping season from July to September. Snorkeling for sea scallops is one of the most popular attractions to Steinhatchee and is the busiest time of year drawing visitors from across the country. The area is also known for great fishing in the Gulf of Mexico providing a wide variety of local seafood and sport, as well as hunting, boating, swimming in the beautiful natural springs located around the area and a wide variety of other water sports including visiting area beaches. Steinhatchee is a great vacation place for a change from the fast-paced world we all live in, to a relaxed and peaceful atmostphere.
